1. About the Client

The client is a local food and produces distributor. They focus on delivering farm-fresh, locally-grown food that benefits consumers, producers, the environment, and the local economy. They operate a successful model of distributing harvest boxes and selling fresh food locally.

2. Initial Choice: Farmigo

The client originally chose Farmigo for its purpose-built solutions for the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). The platform enabled them to manage their online sales and deliveries effectively, albeit with some limitations.

3. The Shift to Shopify

Over time, the client sought to extend their digital reach and enhance their customer experience. They also wanted to streamline their operations. Shopify, with its powerful features, customizability, and cost-effective pricing, emerged as one of the solutions. After some back and forth with other platforms, Shopify was the quickest available solution that would fit most of their needs out of the box. It was also the most cost-effective.

4. Role of Storesquad

Our team at Storesquad played a crucial role in facilitating this transition. First, we helped the client test Shopify through a demo store and gave them a tour of what a Shopify store can look and feel like. Both from an admin and buyer's perspective. We also helped them list their requirements and find solutions to their challenges before building anything,

Theme Selection and Customization

We worked closely with the client to choose a theme that resonated with their brand identity. We then customized the theme to ensure it catered to their specific needs, both aesthetically and functionally.

Design and Content Development

We designed a color palette that reflected the fresh, organic, and local ethos of the business. Our team also worked with the client's content team to create engaging blog content, product descriptions and set up location parameters for delivery.

App Selection

We assisted the client in identifying and integrating the best apps for their specific requirements, including apps for local deliveries and subscriptions.

For subscriptions we went with Loop, they're a cost-effective subscription app that met the client's needs.
The client was already using Deeleeo for their local deliveries and they do have a Shopify app, we only added a couple of workflows using Shopify Flow to properly tag orders and manage them in the Deeleeo App.

Training and Support

We provided comprehensive training to the client's staff to familiarize them with the new platform. Our team also offered unwavering support throughout the transition, ensuring a seamless shift for both the client and their customers.

5. The Outcome

Speed and Efficiency

The transition to Shopify significantly improved the website's speed.

Enhanced User Experience

Shopify's user-friendly design eliminated the need for customer sign-ups, offered a smoother checkout process, and provided a more mobile-friendly experience. We also improved the checkout speed, leading to higher customer satisfaction.

Here are numbers from a timed checkout, so adding the same item to a cart and processing to checkout:

🐌 Farmigo: 3:25min

🐇 Shopify: 1:14

Cost Savings

Switching from Farmigo's 2% revenue fee to Shopify's fixed fee model results in cost savings over the long term, even when you factor in transaction fees and Loop's fees.

Future-proof Platform

Shopify's scalability ensures that as the client grows, their platform can grow with them, allowing for future customizations and extensions.

SEO Benefits

By blending the home page with the online store, we improved the website's SEO performance, driving more organic traffic to their home page and product pages.

The migration to Shopify has proven to be a transformative move for this client, bolstering their online presence, improving customer experience, and paving the way for future growth and success.
